How long does a life insurance company keep a death certificate?

Posted by harry Comments (3)
JbAchoo asked:

If a person who died many years ago was said to be listed as beneficiary on a life insurance policy of a relative, and the insured relative died last year, about how long does the average insurance company hold the certificate during its investigation? Weeks or months? Does it make any difference that both people lived in different states?

Please state some factors involved. Thanks.

What is the difference between accidental death life insurance and regular life insurance?

Sweetask asked:

What is the difference between accidental death insurance and regular life insurance? Which is a better buy? Wouldn’t all deaths (excluding illnesses) be accident? If you only buy life insurance and don’t include accidental death insurance then what is usually excluded? Thanks!!!
(I know its different for every insurance company, I am just wondering what generally the outcomes would be)

z asked:

I want to get a life insurance policy for my husband but I don’t know anything about insurance. I want something that I won’t really have to pay much for right now, but that will give me a lot of money when he dies. I want to figure this out soon so I can get the money by next Friday so I can go to Hawaii. What is the best?

Do life insurance companies check your medical records after you die?

Dick J asked:

Let’s say that you get life insurance and claim to be a non-smoker. Then let’s say that you start smoking or resume smoking. Assuming that your medical records show that you smoked, will most life insurance companies check your records, see that you smoked, and then cancel your benefit?
